It is unlawful for any person to park a motor vehicle in a metered parking space during designated days and hours of operation of the parking meter associated with that metered parking space:

A. Without operating that meter using legal United States coins, credit cards, or other acceptable forms or methods of payment for the corresponding parking time used; and

B. In excess of the time limit indicated by the sign accompanying that parking meter.

This section shall not apply to a vehicle displaying a State "Disabled Parking" or "Purple Heart Medal Recipient" identifying insignia parked in a metered space for a period not to exceed one hour after the time on the parking meter has expired.
