a. At any time after 8:00 p.m. on the date of the election, unofficial results of the ballot count may be released during the counting of the ballots, and upon completion of the count, the unofficial results shall be open to the public. The City Clerk shall compile the result of the count of votes in all City precincts, which shall include any write-in votes, and shall provide the result to the City Council for the official canvass of the election.

b. The official canvass of the election returns shall be made in public after the election, with the Mayor and Council serving as the official Canvassing Board as provided by the City Charter.

c. If, at the time the Council meets as a Canvassing Board, any returns are missing, the canvass shall be postponed from day to day until all returns are found or until the canvass has been postponed six times. The Council shall complete the canvass when any lost returns are found, or after the canvass has been postponed six times. (Ord. No. G-5390, § 1, 2009)
